11/20/2016: Kingdom Warning (Series: The Kingdom)

Drew Thurman, Redemption minister.

Check out RedemptionIN.com for more info. The words of Jesus in the Sermon on the Mount, are the pinnacle of his teaching during his ministry. In Matthew 5-7, Jesus teaches on the nature of God’s kingdom and what we must do as his followers. He tells us, in essence, everything we thought we knew about the good life, about being blessed, and about following God is wrong. It must all be flipped on its head. We don’t make progress in God’s kingdom by trying to get ahead or by looking out for number one. The way is narrow, even backwards when compared to the way of the world. True discipleship is upside-down.

Darrel Land, Redemption Senior Minister.

Check out RedemptionIN.com for more info. Summer often means driving with the windows down with the music cranked up. Many of us craft playlists for our summer outings. People love music. Songs speak to us. They say things we wish we could say, they describe our lives in ways that validate us, and express deep emotions that define the joys and struggles of our lives. In fact, someone's playlist probably says a lot about who they are. A Biblical playlist is the book of Psalms. It's a collection of songs filled with moments of awe, anger, doubt, sadness, hope, and joy. All are responses to things of life in light of the Glory of God. In the midst of discovering these new songs, you will find out a great deal about God's character and yourself. Join us all June and July for our sermon series Summer Playlist: A Study of Psalms.

The dynamics dramatically change again when we go from a child-less marriage to adding kids to the mix. For many, there are even further shifts in the stage of life when a marriage is struggling and on the rocks. For so many, divorce is a reality we can’t ignore and is an ever-present fact of life. In the series "Before & After," we will look to the Bible and see what God has to say for each of these life stages and how to prepare for the next.
